Cool-Season & Warm-Season Lawns

There are many types of grass that can be grown in different areas with optimal results, but the seasons are also going to play a major role in those results. Today, we are going to give you a good list of grass types and how well they grow depending on the weather conditions and the time of the year.

Cool-season grasses

There are several types of grass that are going to grow much faster and with a better look during cool seasons. Some of them include the Kentucky bluegrass, Fine Fescue, Perennial Ryegrass; Bentgrass, and the Tall fescue. They are more likely to grow properly at temperatures of 60 to 75 Fahrenheit and this means that spring and fall are ideal for these types of grass. They are also ideally fertilized during those two seasons.

Warm-season grasses

The warm-season grasses are known for growing quite fast during the warm season. These grass types include the Bahia, Bermuda, Centipede, St. Augustine, and Zoysia. They grow properly when they are at temperatures of 80 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit and this means that the optimal seasons for their growth are spring and summer.
